Tenderness
“To lie by his side, and in his arms, and on his dear bosom, and be called by names of tenderness, I have never yet heard used to me before – was bliss beyond belief!”
cit.: Queen Victoria
Tenderness could seem like passion in repose. Passion rests, some say. Like passion has greater attraction than tenderness. But all of us long for tenderness in love, sometimes rather than passion.
The soft glance in eyes of someone, who cares for us, is like a caress on cheek, suddenly we melt into mild or touching emotions, it´s almost impossible not to give back affection. This mild warmth of love that we imagine, when Elvis sings: “Love me tender” is something most of us dream about.
Tenderness can be in the tone of words expressed in communication, when they truly come from the heart. This can be compassionate, but surely also rooted in passion.
To be tender means to be gentle to someone we like or love. We connect it with security, since we sense that expression of tenderness comes from someone, we can trust.
For some tenderness is overwhelming, like fervency – a person comes too close. Tenderness seems to melt down fences of control and hardness, make a shortcut into a heart.
Tenderness is soft. Also it can be strong. In tender mood we respond with consideration rather than condemnation, even when someone attacks us with anger or hurting words.
Tenderness is to be lovely, – it is gentleness that makes us act with kind care. Tenderness seems to embrace us with a lightly intimacy that makes us relax, be in trust, everything will be all right.
Let us be tender, melt away all worries, any fear, so we can all come to have peace at heart.
