Life quality and love

MANIFEST A SUSTAINABLE REALITY

A creative/psychological service-design course for hospital departments or groups of hospital workers
*

Join 6 modules of each 4 hours to develop concrete goals, guidelines and practical methods to increase empowerment and satisfaction of patients and their relatives, – by giving and receiving from heart
These three questions are recurring themes for all 6 modules:

Patient-empowerment:
How do we make it appealing to patients to take responsibility for being healthy, even if they are scared, sick and debilitated?

Sustainable good life-quality:
How do we ensure that the patients feel strengthened, inspired and motivated to selfcare throughout their treatment?

Global responsibility:
How can we as hospital staff be part of taking responsibility for human mental sustainability?
*

You will develop personal emotional and mental skills, living into experiences through methods of play, meditation, creativity and use of your own abilities for sensing, empathy and care. Each module is a mix of sensing, creating and embodiment.

TOPICS

1. Sustainability, transparency and authenticity
It´s natural to get stuck identifying ourselves in roles at a workplace, especially when our days are busy: we become blind. Working close with a diversity of people who have a great amount of different emotions, thoughts and psycical pain, our roles and rules can make us inflexible, vulnerable and stressed.
Developing a more compassionate approach to yourself will improve your relationships with others: You can create a bond with the patient, using authentic strength and weakness by both of you to develop more sustainable motivated processes of  empowerment.
*

2. Cultivate resilience to handle the unknown. About to be a witness.
We often believe that we must be in control of our lives. But life rarely goes entirely according to plan, adversity is a constant, which we discover when we get sick. Resilience is the ability to withstand or recover from difficult situations. Knowing we will not be destroyed means we’re more comfortable with the unknown and uncertainty, meaning we’re likely to be more effective, and can enjoy living life as it is, despite the challenges we will encounter. Love, fear and other emotions: where does resilience in us comes from? What are our own resources? Build ideas, stories and tools to help the patient to cultivate their own resilience.

3. What is wealth and a natural good life?
More than half of the world’s population live in cities. For the vast majority of human history, our environment has been predominantly natural, but now it is urban and increasingly virtual. We spend more and more of our lives interacting with technology. What does nature means to us, what is our natural self, why do we need nature and how might nature around and inside us help us to become a whole human being?
Connecting with nature means more than simply getting a little fresh air. Rather, it entails reconsidering our individuality and how we relate to each other. A fuller connection with nature inside us is an essential part of a good life, making us see ourselves from wider perspectives. Reconnecting with the natural can provide a vital path to emotional health.

4. Create a culture of wonder, spirit and trust (hope)
To wonder is to be filled with curiousity or doubt of somebody or something. Or it is the emotion aroused by something awe-inspiring, astounding or surprising. A wonder is a miracle, something inexplicably magical by the laws of nature or an extraordinary remarkable act or achievement.
All of us need to feel that there is spirit in our life. Meaning. Sense. This mystic, magic, fairytalish, poetic, romantic, philosophic, maybe also religious immaterial “power” that makes us wonder and feel alive. Spirit is related to fantasy, enchantment, passion and fervent feelings. Spirit can be the-in-between-us, the character of a relation. Spirit can be an atmosphere that seems to give meaning to what we do and connect us together in a feeling of belonging.
*

5. Communication, compassion and consideration
The worst thing for most of us is to feel left all alone. A patient may have relatives, friends or a strong network, but not always. Also the patient is the one feeling sick, weak, scared or confused, separated from the ones who are not ill. Loneliness is a state of being – feeling separated. Separation feels bad. We can feel separated even from our own self, if we regard ourselves as divided in different pieces, where we consider some parts of us as worthy, other parts as not. It´s human nature to search for interconnectness and coherence. To search for attention, support and help to not drown for instance in selfpity or fear. The exchange and sharing between us is of huge importance for how we feel. The communication must be lovingly and clear.

6. Service-design in practice
Good quality in service is when those who receive the service, experience the service as being good. What makes a service being experienced as good? Reliability, availability, security and trust, empathy, communication and appearance of the physical space where the service takes place.
Based on experiences and developed ideas from the previous five modules, this 6th module is about creation of concrete goals, guidelines and tools to increase empowerment and satisfaction of patients and their relatives.

The exact content of the course and the dates can be adjusted to the need of your department.

Between the 6 creativity days you can test and further develop the ideas you have worked with to precisely tailor them to your department and patient types and their needs. At this workshop each of you will live into new personal consciousness.
